Devotion knows only love, and no boundaries.
There is something deeply reassuring about a vilakku, the familiar South Indian lamp. For so many of us, it carries memories of home, of quiet prayers and wishes held close to the heart.
With Ibaadat, we imagined this familiar form with a little bit of Kashmir in its soul. Channapatna’s turned wood meets the delicate Naqqashi of Kashmir, bringing together two craft traditions with Persian connections that have found a home, and their own beautiful expression, in India.
Perhaps that is what drew us to the name Ibaadat, meaning worship or devotion. The thought that something can travel so far and still belong. That different hands, traditions and beliefs can come together to create something we hold sacred.
