The Mysore Dasara celebrations is the state festival of Karnataka. A much awaited annual event that is attened by both, the locals and tourists. The highlight of these celebrations is the procession on the tenth day that includes decorated elephants, horses and music bands.

Channapatna is long since known for creating dolls depicting the Mysore Dasara celebrations. The base of this kudure (horse) is turned on the lathe using the traditional lac-turnery technique of Channapatna. And the body and face are then painted with oil paints. Please note that the price indicated is for one unit only.

This is a part of our initiative to revive the traditional doll stories of Channapatna, Karnataka.  Each piece is made of wrightia tinctoria or hale mara, a safe and naturally seasoned medicinal plant wood. And they have been painted with safe, non-toxic colours. However the outside sealant is a varnish. Hence not suitable for children. Please note that the colours may vary a little bit from the one in the pics.

Any perforations, bubbles, etc found on the wood are natural to the hand painting process and should not be considered a defect.
