This pair of dolls is part of our initiative to revive the traditional doll stories of Channapatna, Karnataka. This is the channapatna toy interpretation of the popular 'Gaarudi Gombe' dolls .

Gaarudi Gombe is a folk dance prevalent in the state of Karnataka, India. Dancers adorn themselves with giant doll-suits made of bamboo  sticks. The term Gaarudi-Gombe means magical-doll in the native language,Kannada. This dance is performed during major festivals and also in the procession held during the festivities of Mysore Dasara. Each piece is made of wrightia tinctoria or hale mara, a safe and naturally seasoned medicinal plant wood. And they have been painted with safe, non-toxic colours. However the outside sealant is a varnish. Hence not suitable for children. Please note that the colours may vary a little bit from the one in the pics.

Available in two sizes.
