ZIPPY DRAGONFLY POLKAS AF Brown

This uber soft, mulmul cotton shirt is a contemporary take on the traditional hand block printing craft of AJRAKH, Gujarat with detailed hand embroidery of ZIPPY, the dragonfly, by the Lambadi women of Sitlingi, Tamil Nadu. 

This series defies gender norms and works across various shapes and sizes. The airy look works for both men and women.

Any imperfections found in the print is natural to the process of handblock printing and not a defect.

ABOUT THE LAMBADI CRAFT ~

Nomadic Needles The Lambadi (or Banjara) community were once nomads, and their embroidery carries echoes of their wandering spirit.

Cloth of Identity Traditionally, women decorated their skirts, blouses, and veils with embroidery as a marker of identity.

Mirrors That Speak Tiny mirrors stitched into the fabric not only sparkle but are believed to ward off evil.

Symbols of Life Each motif carries meaning: diamonds may represent fertility, triangles could symbolize mountains or crops.

It is best to handwash them to retain the colours for long and dry them inside out in shade.
