This pair of dolls is part of our initiative to revive the traditional doll stories of Channapatna, Karnataka. This is the channapatna toy interpretation of the popular 'Marapachi' dolls which were given as a gift during dasara to daughters. This particular design was done by one of our artisan's grandfather more than 50 years ago and we are happy to have been able to revive it once more. Their attire reminds one of the traditional attire of villages in North Karnataka, hence the Belagavis, as a mark of respect to them.
Each piece is made of wrightia tinctoria or hale mara, a safe and naturally seasoned medicinal plant wood. And they have been painted with safe poster colours. Not suitable for children. Please note that the colours may vary a little bit from the one in the pics.
Please note that these are handpainted dolls and their rustic charm lends them credibility. Hence please don't expect a perfect finish in terms of painting.
18 inches tall , 6.5 inches wide.
Not to be washed. To clean use a mildly damp cloth. Avoid blows against hard surfaces. Please note that wood being a natural material reacts differently to atmospheric changes which is beyond our control
