GUBBIGALA HAADU meaning 'Song of the sparrows' (in kannada) is a series that's dedicated to the chirping of the little sparrows that I grew up often listening to as a child. They stand a grim reminder of the fast disappearing sparrows from our cities due to loss of their habitats. These wooden KURUVIS have been handcrafted by women artisans from Channapatna using the traditional craft of Lac-Turnery. They can serve as paper-weights and also hold a few good memories. The final product delivered could be any one of those shown in the pics depending on the availability. Please note that the price mentioned is for one unit only.
Each bird has a 1 metres jute thread, adorned with beads, to hang from above.
To be used for indoor or covered outdoor spaces - not outdoor as the direct sun/rain can lighten the colours and make the wood crack.
9cm dia X 12 cm height.
All lacware products must be kept in shaded areas and must avoid direct exposure to sun. Avoid blows against hard surfaces. Do not wash this with water as wood cracks and so will the external lac coating. To clean use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe off with a dry cloth immediately.
